چکیده
The problem of Unequal Area Facility Layout Planning (UA-FLP) has been addressed by a large number approaches considering set quantitative criteria. Moreover, more recently, the personal qualitative preferences an expert designer or decision-maker (DM) have taken into account too. This article deals with capturing than single DM’s to obtain common and collaborative design including whole from all DMs complex, complete, realistic solutions. To best our knowledge, this is first time that one considered in UA-FLP. new strategy implemented on Coral Reef Optimization (CRO) algorithm using two techniques acquire DMs’ evaluations. demands simultaneous presence DMs, while second does not. Both tested over three well-known instances literature results show it possible sufficient designs maintaining low values fitness function.

Handling qualitative aspects in Unequal Area Facility Layout Problem: An Interactive Genetic Algorithm
The Unequal Area Facility Layout Problem (UA-FLP) has been addressed using several methods. However, the UA-FLP has only been solved for criteria that can be quantified. Our approach includes subjective features in the UA-FLP, which are difficult to take into account with a more classical heuristic optimization. In this respect, we propose an Interactive Genetic Algorithm (IGA) that allows an i...
متن کاملA biased random-key genetic algorithm for the unequal area facility layout problem
This paper presents a biased random key genetic algorithm (BRKGA) for the unequal area facility layout problem (UA-FLP) where a set of rectangular facilities with given area requirements has to be placed, without overlapping, on a rectangular floor space. The objective is to find the location and the dimensions of the facilities such that the sum of the weighted distances between the centroids ...
متن کاملA hybrid genetic algorithm with decomposition phases for the Unequal Area Facility Layout Problem
We address the Unequal-Area Facility-Layout Problem (UA-FLP), which aims to dimension and locate rectangular facilities in an unlimited floor space, without overlap, while minimizing the sum of distances among facilities weighted by “material-handling” flows. We introduce two algorithmic approaches to address this problem: a basic Genetic Algorithm (GA), and a GA combined with a decomposition s...
متن کامل1. Introduction to the Unequal Area Facility Layout Problem
This paper presents an extended formulation of the unequal area facilities block layout problem which explicitly considers uncertainty in material handling costs by use of expected value and standard deviations of product forecasts. This formulation is solved using a random keys genetic algorithm (RKGA) to circumvent the need for repair operators after crossover and mutation. Because this probl...
متن کاملA New Optimization via Invasive Weeds Algorithm for Dynamic Facility Layout Problem
The dynamic facility layout problem (DFLP) is the problem of finding positions of departments onthe plant floor for multiple periods (material flows between departments change during the planning horizon)such that departments do not overlap, and the sum of the material handling and rearrangement costs isminimized. In this paper a new optimization algorithm inspired from colonizing weeds, Invasi...
